Elevate Cosmic with Sitefix Ceiling Grid 60-Minute Fire-Rated Under Mezzanine System

Classified REI 60.

Performance When It Matters

Setting the standard with the Cosmic REI 60 fire-resistant ceiling system.

Proven in test conditions, the Cosmic with Sitefix ceiling grid system delivers up to 60 minutes of fire resistance to mezzanine floor structures when installed as tested and is classified REI 60, demonstrating not only fire resistance, but the structural integrity of the system.

Tested as part of a system in accordance with BS EN 13501-2:2023 and BS EN 1365- 2:2014.

FAQ

What is the structural EN 1365-2: 2014 fire test?

EN 1365-2: 2014 is a European standard fire resistance test for load-bearing floors and where a full-scale construction is loaded and exposed to a controlled fire to measure how long it maintains structural stability, prevents fire spread and limits heat transfer, with results given as ratings such as REI 30 or 60.
It’s the newest standard, tested under evenly, fully loaded mezzanine structures.

What does REI 60 mean?

REI 60 is a rating given when a building element can withstand fire for 60 minutes while maintaining:
R: Loadbearing capacity
E: Integrity
I: Insulation

What conditions was the Elevate fire rated ceiling system tested under?

The complete Elevate Cosmic system was tested to EN 1365-2: 2014 standards, with an REI 60 rating. The system was tested under the weight of 5kN/m2, with a minimum void depth of 250mm. It was tested with a floor to ceiling distance of 450/500mm, depending on the depth of the restraint frame.

What does the fire tested system comprise of?

The system uses Elevate Cosmic 600 x 600mm square edge ceiling tiles and 24mm Sitefix Ocelot Powergrid X Main Runner. The grid components used were 600mm, 1200mm cross tees (note) and the suspension of the grid was achieved with 2.5kg wire core.

Is the fire rated ceiling system tested with services?

No. If any services are installed, you must have an independent test support of passing a structural fire test under mezzanine construction within a tiled suspended ceiling.

Does fire rating remain valid after ceiling tile replacement?

Only if the replacement tiles are the exact same and installed within the original tested system, otherwise the fire rating is no longer applicable.

Was the mezzanine fully loaded?

Yes. 5 kN/m² applied at 36 equally distributed points – 100% of the design load.

Does the grid system itself need to be fire-rated, or just the tiles?

Any fire ratings apply to the complete tested ceiling system, not the individual parts.
